Our Story
At the outset of the journey to photograph one person from every country in the world, a profound challenge quickly became apparent. Severe global threats are endangering cultural heritage around the globe. What began as an artistic quest to celebrate the rich diversity of traditional culture brought to light the critical danger of these cultural treasures being lost forever.
This insight inspired the founding of the Quest of Sages nonprofit organization. Cultural preservation faces numerous threats, including the homogenizing effects of globalization, displacement of indigenous communities, the erosion of native languages, and the overshadowing of traditional practices by modernization. In addition, climate change, political instability, and economic challenges exacerbate the threat to these valuable customs. It is our belief that through innovative storytelling and artistic collaboration, we can address the pressing need to protect the world’s cultural legacy.
Our Approach
We believe that the innovative use of conceptual art and creative storytelling can help marginalized communities around the world preserve their heritage and share cultural knowledge more effectively than through traditional methods of communication such as journalism and documentary filmmaking. Using highly creative channels allows individuals to digest difficult material while also inspiring a deeper connection to achieve cultural awareness and opportunities for social impact.
