MISSION
To establish and maintain a museum and exhibition space for all matters of cultural, folkloristic, religious, archaeological and other relevance to the Volendam community in the past, present and future.
ABOUT THE VOLENDAMS MUSEUM
The Volendams Museum offers a permanent exhibition of the Volendam traditional costume, paintings, old interiors, the botter room with the forepeak of a life-size botter, the ship models and the cigar band house. In addition, there is an annually changing themed exhibition. There are also film showings about the old Volendam and guided tours are given on request. To further involve school children in the history of Volendam, educational activities are organized together with the elementary schools. During the youth week in the autumn vacations, handicrafts are practiced in the form of braiding ties and making mobiles and mosaics of cigar bands around a historical theme. The museum is centrally located with a coach exit stop right next door. The building is easily accessible for seniors and disabled visitors and we also have a disabled toilet. The Volendam Museum is fortunate to have many patrons and sponsors. The board is proud of its volunteers, without whom the Volendams Museum could not be maintained.
