Known for their elegance, the Creole culture has been passed down from generation to generation. From special ceremonies for certain dates throughout the year to commonplace meals served regularly, Creole customs have been preserved and celebrated. Given the close proximity to both India and Africa, religion and spirituality are deeply ingrained in Seychelloise culture; Christianity and Hinduism are two of the principle faiths practiced. Many people also adhere to ancient belief systems passed down through generations such as folklore and traditional healing practices. Seychellois culture further showcases its diversity with various art forms including basket weaving, woodcarving, painting, theater, textiles and dance.
